2 Week Yoga Teacher Training CPD Course

Our 100 hour Yin Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Course provides the perfect opportunity to compliment the yang practice of Ashtanga Yoga or Vinyasa Flow, here on the beach in Goa. It is ideal if you would like to understand the differences between Yin and Yang Yoga practices and continue your professional development of Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga Teacher Training.

Over two weeks, you will deepen your practice of Yin Yoga and you will explore how a Yin practice is related to the meridian lines (low resistance energy pathways), the fascial body and the 5 elements.

The course will address how Yin Yoga uniquely affects the physical, emotional and energetic body. We bring together Eastern traditions and contemporary thinking in a fun and progressive environment here on the beach in Goa.

This Yin Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Course will allow you to:

  •  Immerse yourself in a mindful Yin Yoga practice; connecting with yourself and your body on a deeper level
  •  Understand the energetic body: the meridians, the elements, the chakras and the pranic body
  •  Deepen and develop your personal meditation/pranayama practice
  •  Understand the differences between Yin and Yang practices and how they apply to your lifestyle and/or teaching
  •  Devise and deliver a 90-minute class to receive your Yin Yoga Teacher Certification

Curriculum

Morning Practice

Your daily Yin Yoga practice will take place in the mornings. You will be guided through a series of 90-minute classes that look at different aspects of the physical, energetic and emotional body. You will cultivate internal awareness. You may feel yourself challenged mentally, emotionally or physically, as you come to understand yourself on a deeper level. These classes are followed by an hour of Meditation and Pranayama to allow you to come even deeper into your body and practice.

Yin Yoga Theory

You will study the history of Yin Yoga and its key influencers. You will explore the question of “What is Yin Yoga?”, understanding the five principles of Yin Yoga and its key health benefits. You will understand the differences between Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga, discussing what is Yin and Yang in Yoga alongside what is Yin and Yang in daily life.
The curriculum takes an in depth look at the meridian lines, what they are, how to trace them, understand them, and use Yin Yoga to release them. You will also study the five Chinese elements (Earth, Water, Metal, Wood, Fire) and how these each relate to our body and our practice. You will discover the differences between Eastern and Western views and contemplate Yogic interpretations of the chakras, the nadis and prana.

Yin Yoga Asanas and Anatomy

Students will study each of the Yin Yoga postures in daily classes where we will discuss the concepts of tension and compression; modifications and adjustments; anatomy for Yin Yoga and the fascial body. Additional Myofascia Release Workshops, including Ball Release and Active Stretching, will allow for further exploration of the fascial body.

The Emotional Body Workshop:

What is our emotional body? What are the emotions? Where do they come from? How are they stored in the body? Prepare yourself for an Emotional Release Workshop with a 90-minute theory class to discuss the above questions. The workshop uses a series of transformational breathing techniques designed to induce an emotional release. It is an incredibly powerful class and has been greatly appreciated by so many of our students, we’re thrilled to be able to offer it on this course.

Meditation and Mindfulness:

Students will participate in daily meditation classes to bring them deeper into their practice. In addition, a theory class will discuss: what is meditation and mindfulness (history), how do we do it (techniques), why we do it (benefits), and how can we teach it and apply it to Yin Yoga (practice). This theory class is complimented by a 90-minute Mindfulness Yin Class.

Hatha Flow

These afternoon classes are centered around the chakras. Your 2 weeks with us will explore each chakra individually in a Slow Hatha Flow Yoga style – leaving you feeling connected and balanced energetically, physically and spiritually. Postures will be low impact and the Hatha Flow Yoga will provide a soft and subtle practice for you to end the day with.

Yin Teaching Methodology

You will create and deliver a 90-minute Yin Yoga class based around the elements, the meridians, or the physical body. This will be your final assessment. In this class, you will understand how to sequence Yin Yoga postures, how to instruct for different body types and abilities and how to devise an effective commentary for teaching Yin Yoga.
