4 Week Certified Yoga Teacher Training Course

Kranti Yoga is delighted to offer this Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Goa, India. Join us in Patnem for this 4-week course that brings together Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. This course is our advanced Yin Yoga certification. It is for those students who have already graduated in any Yoga Alliance registered 200 hour YTTC and would like to deepen practice and develop new skills as a yoga teacher.

The best 300 hour yoga teacher training in Goa will challenge you, educate you, and leave you feeling motivated and accomplished. The Daoist concepts of Yin and Yang are based on opposing qualities of nature. From this comes Yin and Yang Yoga. Yin Yoga is a passive practice, Vinyasa Flow is therefore active. In engaging in the 2 styles of yoga, a well-rounded and balanced practice can be developed.

Course Objectives

  •  Develop a Yin Yoga practice.
  •  Explore the Myofascia Meridian System and The Elements.
  •  Achieve complex postures by participating in dynamic classes and workshops.
  •  Study and debate Yoga Philosophy from an Eastern and Western perspective
  •  Sequence and teach a 90-minute Yin Yoga class.
  •  Devise and deliver a 90-minute Vinyasa Flow Class.

Curriculum

The course runs in conjunction with our 300 hour YTTC in Vinyasa Flow and Adjustments and some modules will be taught together. This Yin Yoga Teacher Training is taught in a fun and progressive environment, bringing together Eastern practices with contemporary thought. Modules will include the following:

Yin Yoga Morning Practice

These classes will take place on alternate days throughout the course. The classes will demonstrate how to build an effective commentary: observing compression and tension, the dispersion of energy throughout the subtle body and The Meridian System, guiding modifications, and setting appropriate spiritual intentions. Students will attune to their own body and become aware of the energetic shifts that happen throughout a Yin class, thus developing a mindful meditative practice and finding the space to explore themselves.

Vinyasa Flow

These classes will take place on alternate days throughout the course. Each class will have a technical focus that will work towards a peak posture. Classes will incorporate dynamic and functional movements, traditional alignment, strengthening yogi drills and myofascial release techniques. Commentary will provide spiritual intention with a contemporary flavour. These classes have been designed to challenge your practice on both a physical and spiritual level whilst observing and accepting limitations to your practice.

Pranayama and Meditation

These sessions will take place each morning as part of morning practice. Each week, new pranayama techniques will be explained and the breath explored. Meditation techniques will include Mantra Chanting, Affirmations and Beach Meditation.

Yin Yoga Alignment

In this class, students will explore the alignment of over 30 Yin Yoga postures. Students will learn how to align and modify the postures, looking at how to use props to maximize the potential of the postures. This class will provide a forum to explore the differences between Western anatomy and the subtle body. Postures will be presented in terms of anatomical reference The Myofascial Meridian System and The Elements.

Yin Yoga Teaching Methodology

Students will learn how to sequence and teach a lesson with integrity. The commentary that accompanies a successful class is crucial. Students will learn how to build a commentary based on the details learnt during the alignment class, developing the correct vocabulary and dialogue. This will include instructions to enter and exit the posture, benefits of the posture, anatomical information, the flow of energy in the subtle body, The Elements and intention setting.

Anatomy

This module will include a review of the skeletal muscular system from the 200 hour YTTC curriculum. Students will review the origin, insertion, functionality, and physiology of muscles. This module will look in detail at the anatomy of the shoulder and the importance of building shoulder stability to support your Vinyasa Flow practice, as well as a detailed look at the spine and hips. The Anatomy Theory Classes will take place during the first week and then knowledge will be applied for the duration of the course.

The Fascial Body

These classes will focus on the fascial connections throughout the body, looking at the function of the fascia and dealing with the body in totality. This is the anatomy of the fascia. Students will compare traditional anatomy with contemporary thinking, considering how this applies to yoga. Studies will include mapping of the Superficial Front, Back and Side Lines; the Superficial Front and Back Arm Lines; the Spiral Lines. The module will provide an exploration of strength and flexibility for the fascial body. Students will understand the importance of bio-tensegrity and how to maintain the body’s natural tensile structure when preparing a Yin Yoga Class.

An Exploration of Strength and Flexibility

Students will learn the science of stretching and strengthening. Techniques will include PNF, Active Release, and Trigger Point Yoga. The fascial connections within the body get sticky, bringing about stiffness which can prevent access to postures. Stretching and strengthening techniques can help break down adhesions and promote better hydration of the body. This can have a positive effect on the range of motion and mobility. These classes will take place in a workshop format so you will be able to experience the benefits yourself.

Yoga Philosophy

Students will explore the fundamental concepts of The Yoga Sutras. This module will guide students to explore different translations and interpretations, looking at how the commentaries have evolved throughout the ages. We will discuss and debate how the mind has evolved over time and how we might reconsider Patanjali’s teachings in contemporary society. Alongside this, students will explore the concept of Daoism.

Evening Activities

Twice a week, we offer evening activities for all students together. These can include Ecstatic Dance, Thai Massage, Beach Bonfire, Drumming Circle, Bedtime Yin Yoga, Ball Yoga, Full Moon Meditation and Candlelight Meditation.
